Everything has a history. Even if sometimes, it seems to be forgotten.

The "Tunnel" at Cole Park
There is supposedly a tunnel, running from Cole park to a house or houses on the other side of Ocean Drive. We found the opening (which is bricked in), and it left me wondering what was behind the bricked in doorways.
It used to have thick steel doors where it is now bricked in. The opening on the left was to walkway to the tunnel. The other two were for a snack bar. The steel doors on the snack bar were hinged at the top if I remember correctly. I explored the area in the early 1970s. The remains of a dock and what looked like a badminton or volleyball court were plainly evident back then
Very cool!! Welcome to the blogging world:) Looking forward to reading all about history and seeing the photos!!
ReplyDeleteIt seems that you are right about the tunnel leading to a house on the other side of Ocean Drive:

Fascinating. Reminds me of the Bandit's Cave in Rollingwood.
Fascinating! I have walked down by that many times but never knew about the tunnel--suppose it is left over from WWII??
